Leaky Chimneys Can be fixed
We live and work in Southern California, and not everyone uses their fireplace. This means chimneys don’t always need to be swept.
However, even unused chimneys are subject to water intrusion. (Insert ominous music.)
A leaky chimney might be mistaken for a roof leak. Or, you might hear drips inside of your fireplace (even if you don’t see any water). Or you might see some cracked bricks toward the top of your chimney. Or, a leaky chimney could display any number of other symptoms.
Here’s the deal with leaky chimneys: they don’t repair themselves.
Once you have a crack in masonry on the top of your chimney or the metal top gets rusty, it is likely time to get a little checkup.
Reseal = minor cracks or rust = simple fix.
Rebuild = major cracks and holes = complicated fix.
All of this to say, a leaky chimney is not the end of the world, but it is something that needs to be addressed.
If you think you have a leaky chimney, book a “Leaky Chimney” Inspection and we’ll give you a plan for repair.
